Newburgh Seal Beach, Aberdeen
Case Study
Client:
Newburgh & Ythan Community Trust
Lead Contractor:
Leiths (Scotland) Ltd
Project Overview:
Newburgh Seal beach is a Forvie National Nature Reserve and is part of the Newburgh & Ythan Community Trust.
Newburgh Seal Viewing Project involved the upgrade of the Beach Road Car Park and installation of enhanced interpretive & signage information. Their aim is “to ensure that people of all abilities can experience the nature of Northeast Scotland.”.
The contract went to tender for the upgrading of the Beach Road car park in early autumn and was won by Leiths-Group. Leiths-Group contacted us to supply bollards. We supplied 41 bollards which are 195 x 195mm, 1400mm above the ground in Larch. Larch was the timber of choice for this publicly funded scheme.
As the bollards are hardwood these only needed pressure treating allowing the natural grain to speak for itself, the timber is FSC certificated. Supplied with a slanted top to prevent rainwater sitting on top.
Larch is one of the most durable timbers we supply and is ideally suited to outdoor use. Is it naturally impervious to infestation and most diseases, able to withstand the winter as very durable and good value for money.
Products supplied included:
- Larch Timber Bollards
- Signs adhered to some Bollards
- Mild Steel Bollards – polyester powder coated in RAL5012 – Light Blue
