Sedum Roof Bin Store

A sedum roof is a ‘green’ and aesthetically pleasing way to make an ‘environmental feature and statement’ of a bin store roof, being low maintenance and also environmentally friendly and making an attractive feature of any structure regardless of its size or footprint.

Various sedum species can be selected, and all are full hardy and selected to suit the U.K environment. Please our data sheet outlining the available and recommended species or a standard mix of 12 to 15 species typically 85 mm in height.

The robust and tested frame design can be manufactured to your own project specifications and requirements and full structural calculations have been conducted on the basic structure to check its load bearing capabilities.

Designs accommodate multiple wheelie bins for multiple users, ideal for apartment complexes and social housing.

The unit illustrated was clad in PEFC certified low maintenance Western red cedar with a mild galvanised steel sub frame with a 25 mm thick marine plywood and rubber membrane base to support the sedum which has a fleece substrate to nourish the plants.

Available with various choices of sustainable timber cladding in a choice of hardwoods in various finishes typically iroko, sapele, cedar and oak with the option of other species of timber to special order. Recycled plastic and composite boards are also available.

The shelter’s aesthetics make it ideally suited for rural settings, but it equally blends into more urban environments creating an attractive contrast with the timber slats and the surrounding built environment.

Offering a complete secure bin store compound solution which is ideal for schools and university college campuses, commercial kitchens, restaurants and office blocks.

The bin store can be designed to be either ‘open’ or a secure compound with controlled access by means of lockable gates secured by mechanical keypad or padlock fix.

Robust modular construction with mild steel 80 x 80 mm SHS supports which are hot dipped hot-dip galvanized to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 for maximum corrosion resistance which can also be powder coated in a RAL colour to match a corporate colour schemes if required. The shelter can be designed to be either ‘open’ or a secure with a gate.
